With more than 200 employees, the MSD Animal Health R&D division is involved in the (further) development and registration of vaccines and pharmaceuticals for animals. The R&D Companion Animals (CA) department, with around 20 employees, deals with the development and registration of vaccines for dogs, cats, horses and rabbits.
We are currently recruiting an:
Associate Project Leader R&D (Viral Vaccines Companion Animals)
In this position you will ultimately be responsible for the project-based development and refinement of viral CA vaccines with the aim of increasing the product range of MSD Animal Health. You will manage the projects assigned to you from pre-development to licensing, during which you will lead and coordinate the multidisciplinary project team whilst making a substantial scientific contribution to the research and development of the product. You will be conducting feasibility and development studies by organising and executing laboratory trials to determine the safety and efficacy of the vaccine candidate. This will require an excellent knowledge of the laboratory techniques involved and may spend, at least at the start, time in the laboratory learning the techniques. You will report all studies in a timely fashion and, if required, publish and present technical papers to internal and external audiences. Furthermore, you will also develop new production processes or test methods together with specialists in these fields. This role demands close cooperation with other research groups: Manufacturing, Quality Control, Regulatory Affairs and Global Marketing. You will report to a senior project leader who will offer you close guidance and support.

• A completed PhD program in life sciences (molecular virology, immunology) or a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM)
• Art 9 accreditation or equivalent
• Work experience in virology molecular biology and immunology
• Experience with and proactive approach to GLP and SHE requirements
• Excellent command of the English language, oral and written
• Eligible to work in The Netherlands
